Mono-Stringer + Graffiti = Stairhaus
Probably one of the coolest/one-of-a-kind set of stairs you will ever see. We installed this monster mono-stringer yesterday after the very talented SAGE tagged it up. We commissioned Toronto's #1 graffiti artist to bring this stringer to life. The artwork wraps around all 4 sides and looks killer against the barn board/reclaimed steel feature walls. These stairs will be getting 3" reclaimed elm treads which are drilled for low profile LED lighting accents. More updates on this beauty in the coming weeks.
Really Cool Stairs #15 - Tempered Glass Wall/Guards
Glass is insanely popular right now. Easily 90% of all of our very custom/high-end stair projects on the go right now have glass integrated into their design. There are a few things you need to know about glass before you decide if it is the guard for you. Firstly, cleaning the glass will become almost a daily habit, especially if you have curious dogs! Secondly, engineering will be required on nearly all jobs, so this is a cost you must factor in when planning a glass job. Typically 3/8" & 1/2" tempered are the industry standard for clear tempered glass. There are many ways to fasten the glass (stand-offs, glass clips, channel's) and this is where the inspectors are going to want to see your engineering.
We love the floor-to-ceiling look of tempered glass. Visually, the instant description that comes to mind is ultra contemporary & modern lines. The glass provides both as a functioning guard as well as providing an ultra contemporarylook which is expensive, however extremely sexy!
Really Cool Stairs #11 - Concrete Stairs
For the record, we do not build concrete stairs! In my opinion however, if you want to accomplish an ultra contemporary look, concrete is a must. They may look cold and dull however their sharp lines and grey-scale appearance give them a very desirable look to any edgy architect. Take a gander through a few pictures I found, I honestly think concrete may be the way I go when I build my next house!
