First blog entry of the year! Hope everyone had a great/safe Christmas holiday and New Year! We are very busy right now however we have made it our mission to get our showroom ready for our grand opening which we hope to have in May. Here are a couple pics of the stair/post/railing display which will be finished up in the coming weeks.
Our goal is to build the BEST stair/railing showroom in the game. I have seen many of our competitors and I can honestly tell you our showroom will be next level - a place you will want to check out.
Stay tuned!
On behalf of the Stairhaus gang, both Dylan and I would like to wish you all a safe and happy NEW YEAR! 2015 was a very busy year for the Haus & we are very grateful for the opportunity to run and own our own business. We can't wait to see what 2016 brings us and look forward to showcasing many of the cool projects we get to be a part of.
Cheers
Matt & Dylan

That's right! We are moving 1000sqft a week right now. Price goes up in the winter when stock runs low, cash in while real barn board still exists. We are Simcoe County's ONLY retail reclaimed material seller. Our board is de-nailed and kiln dried - not like the air dried kijiji junk which is wet and will shrink excessively when it is installed on your wall. You get what you pay for! Have a great night!

We have said this on many occasions, however both Dylan and I couldn't be happier with the team we have in place. Our crew comes to work with open minds and killer work ethic. Our shop is always clean as a whistle and the orders go out the door on time.
Big thanks to the Stairhaus Crew for an amazing first year. We would be nowhere without you guys! Special thanks to Donaleigh's Irish Public House for the cold drinks and great food.
Cheers

Check out these progress pics from a barn board feature wall we installed this past weekend. Follow a few simple steps and this easy to install project can be installed by anyone with a little patience and a few tools.
Tools Required: 16g air nailer, compressor, hand stapler, chop saw, table saw or skill saw, jig saw, hammer.
Materials Required: dressed barn board, tar paper (roofing), 16g brad nails, staples
Installation:
- cut and staple tar paper to the wall. The black background makes and holes/cracks in the barn board disappear on the wall.
- install barn board working your way from the top to the bottom.
- the jig saw will be required to cut out light switches and electrical outlets.
- the bottom board will have to be ripped to fit against the floor. You can use a table saw or skill saw with a guide.
BOOM! YOU ARE DONE!
The key to a seamless and quick install is having the material dressed and ready to be installed. Let us take care of the supply and shop work, you install and blow your wife's mind!
Our Homes - Holiday/Winter 2015/16 - Barrie, Orillia, Midland, Innisfil
Make sure to grab a copy of the Holiday & Winter 2015/16 local Our Homes publication. We were lucky enough to have a feature in the "five inspiring people" section of the magazine. We frequently advertise with Our Homes as they support local trades and help showcase the skills many companies have in our area.
Both Dylan and I are humbled by this feature and owe Our Homes and big Thank You for helping us build our brand.

Glass is insanely popular right now. Easily 90% of all of our very custom/high-end stair projects on the go right now have glass integrated into their design. There are a few things you need to know about glass before you decide if it is the guard for you. Firstly, cleaning the glass will become almost a daily habit, especially if you have curious dogs! Secondly, engineering will be required on nearly all jobs, so this is a cost you must factor in when planning a glass job. Typically 3/8" & 1/2" tempered are the industry standard for clear tempered glass. There are many ways to fasten the glass (stand-offs, glass clips, channel's) and this is where the inspectors are going to want to see your engineering.
We love the floor-to-ceiling look of tempered glass. Visually, the instant description that comes to mind is ultra contemporary & modern lines. The glass provides both as a functioning guard as well as providing an ultra contemporarylook which is expensive, however extremely sexy!
Thinking of switching out the wood spindles on your stairs for steel? Browse our suppliers website to find the perfect look for you. Here at Stairhaus, we install 9/10 railings jobs using steel spindles (pickets/balusters). The traditional twisted "Italian" look has been reinvented using new materials and new decorative spindle designs. There are hundreds of options out there, please take a minute to browse our suppliers website and find the perfect railing for you.
Today, Bezdan is a leading provider of railing solutions and their dependability serves architects, designers, builders and their sub-trades. From contemporary to classic to unique, Bezdan is the source for railing solutions including stainless steel systems for glass railings, cable railing, ornamental components and much more.

It will be a short day for the Stairhaus boys as we have been working really hard the last couple weeks. We are slammed with orders and made huge progress this week.
We wanted to take a minute to wish you all a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving long weekend. The roads will be busy, make sure to plan ahead and drive carefully. Thanks to all of our loyal customers for your support and constant stream of orders. There will be a few AMAZING jobs posted that we have been working on. We are really proud with how they have turned out, can't wait to share them with you.
Stairhaus will be closed on the holiday Monday, reopening on Tuesday.
Cheers
Thanks to the Barrie Construction Association (BCA) and Dooley Lucenti Barristers & Solicitors for providing a very informative seminar with respect to "Business with Breakfast - Construction Liens".
It is important that everyone who is self employed understands their rights with respect to liens and how the legal system works. I understood the concept prior to the seminar, however both Scott Fairley and Eric Gionet made it very simple to understand.
Thanks!
Our new sanding beast has arrived (drum sander = 4000 lbs). It has dual heads with a finishing brush. It took a while to find the right machine for us - it's like Christmas here at the Haus!
This machine will help manufacturing timelines and our overall quality will be even better. Electrical hook-up today, dust collection hook-up tomorrow - we can't wait to fire this monster up!
Local artist/blacksmith Kyle Thornley recently put together a line of hand forged steel table legs. Every leg is hand made and can be integrated with one of our reclaimed table tops. We are really excited about the options now available, please take a look and let us know what you think!
Kyle is a really skilled guy and can create pretty much anything out of metal. Take a minute out of your day and check out his website - METAL MIND FORGE. If you have a custom steel leg/brace in mind, please send your idea over and we can work on some custom pricing for you!
A little bit of advertising in the Barrie, Orillia, Midland & Innisfil OUR HOMES Fall Edition. Keep your eyes out for the Winter - Southern Georgian Bay edition for a full page write up on what we have been up to!
