Planning Your Project

If you’re beginning or even just thinking about beginning your stair & railing project here are a few tips and things to think about when getting started that help us to provide you with the best estimate we can!

  1. Timeline – Plan ahead! There can be lots of details to consider when it comes to selecting the style, design and material that will work best for your space – it is always best to give yourself time to think about these details and make your selections. Planning ahead also ensures that we have enough time to measure and build so we can do our best to work within your preferred timeline.
  2. Pictures, Plans & Drawings – Sending us any pictures, plans or drawings that you have access to for your project is the best place to start in order for us to put together your budgetary estimate. This gives us a clear idea of the space we are working with and what your options are so we can then factor all necessary detail into your estimate.
  3. Inspiration – Sending us photos – whether it be on our gallery or other social media platforms – that you feel capture the style/design you’re aiming for is very helpful. This ensures that we are on the same page as far as what you envision for the final product so we can better know what options to suggest.
  4. Selections – In order to finalize the details of your quote we will need to confirm the style of your stairs, handrail profile, post and guard style, wood species and hardware finishes. It may sound like a lot but of course we are happy to walk you through these selections and assist in making these decisions. Step 3 is definitely helpful in determining these details.
  5. Quote – Based on steps 2-4 we should be able to get a budgetary estimate to you. Once you’ve had a chance to take a look through if you decide you’d like to move forward with us we just need to process a deposit. After the deposit is received all that’s left to do is schedule your measurements, move forward with production and work toward your installation!

How it's done!

This is how you make all the stair parts disappear! Planning is critical with a stringerless/infinity open rise stair like this. This is 1 of 3 sets in this amazing Lake Joseph cottage. The custom fabricated steel tread brackets are mounted to the LVL backed walls. These walls will then get boarded with 1/2" ply followed by 5/8" mdf which will be painted. We will be installing 3" white oak box treads for a seamless/stringerless infinity look.

Job location: Lake Joseph, ON.

Showroom - Under Construction!

First blog entry of the year!  Hope everyone had a great/safe Christmas holiday and New Year!  We are very busy right now however we have made it our mission to get our showroom ready for our grand opening which we hope to have in May.  Here are a couple pics of the stair/post/railing display which will be finished up in the coming weeks.

Our goal is to build the BEST stair/railing showroom in the game.  I have seen many of our competitors and I can honestly tell you our showroom will be next level - a place you will want to check out.

Stay tuned!

BARN BOARD is the new Elmo!

That's right! We are moving 1000sqft a week right now. Price goes up in the winter when stock runs low, cash in while real barn board still exists. We are Simcoe County's ONLY retail reclaimed material seller. Our board is de-nailed and kiln dried - not like the air dried kijiji junk which is wet and will shrink excessively when it is installed on your wall. You get what you pay for! Have a great night!

BARN DOORS Rule!

We sent out 5 custom barn doors last week, so I thought it would be fitting to whip up a blog post on these beauties.  The barn door style has been around for hundreds of years however recently the demand for tracks has skyrocketed due to the popularity of having functional barn doors inside of your home.  Whether we make you a rustic door out of reclaimed materials or you hang a brand new door, we sell the tracks and can offer a variety of door styles you can choose from (we also have barn doors in our showroom for you to see).

Take a look through this gallery and I guarantee you will find a style you will fall in love with!
